Well... I finally did it. I broke down and surprised Cory with Guitar Hero 3 yesterday. He was recently in his Colleges theater production of "Grease"... starring as Danny Zuko. He was brilliant. Seriously Brilliant! It has been a very stressful & strenuous past 3 months preparing for the performance... we seriously need a break. I was the music director for the play... and was paid a nice sum of $$$ when all was said and done (even though I told the director that I would do it for free). So, I decided to share my $$$ with the star of the show because he deserved it... hence the Guitar hero.
I told him that I had a little gift for him in my car and that he needed to go get it... so he went outside... and came back inside with a huge grin on his face. I was so excited to see the reaction on his face. He automatically turned back into a 12 year old boy & played the game until he had to go to school at 6pm.
There's something about giving that makes you feel so good. Yes... receiving is a wonderful thing... but honestly... the more I get... the more I want to give. (Let's keep it real... I'm no saint... and don't want to portray that I'm perfect... because there are many out there who would set you straight.) My Birthday is Dec. 10th... so when I was younger I would always come into a little chunk of $$$ for my b-day... but then would spend all that on gifts for everyone else for X-mas. My mom started taking my $$$ and then give it back to me after X-mas so I would actually spend my b-day $$$ on me.
Well... Cory and I decided no gifts this year... because we're poor... but at the end of the day... who really needs gifts when you're surrounded by the people you love.

What an excellent way to look at life. As Dad would say, you are such a giver.
